@undefined thank you very much, Sol. ! I do indeed love working with the dough. and pies as well as tarts are my favorite pastry to create. they are so versatile and self-sufficient, elegant and just wholesome. I am not a newbie to work with the pie dough, but course with Julie did inspired and help to discover new tips and techniques for decorating shortcrust pastry dough .
tips to consider: always make your dough in advance, better let it rest overnight , (rolled out to a desired thickness) in the fringe . That way it has plenty of time to rest, the flour -absorb the liquid, butter to properly crystallize. roll your dough to an even thickness, otherwise your design may look not very neat.
after each handling of the dough – make it rest. Minimize the warming of the dough. use the sharp knife or a craft blade knife to make clean cuts.
hope it helps those who still considering dining in into the decorative shortcrust pastry :))!

@undefined thank you very much, I truly appreciate your comment and very happy to get so much support and so many kind words from the fellows scoolinars.
no, I don’t sell pies, majority of them stays in the family (I have 4 kids, who loves the dig in to them:), some I share with friends or good neighbors;))
in terms of the techniques that I would like to explore further. Yes, definitely, there is always so much to explore, to get better at. one of the examples would be a basketweave design. Seems pretty straight forward and easy, but need practice , since the dough warms up pretty quickly when cut into a thin stripes. Also, I really love to develop my own techniques, that recognizable and unique. And learning new tips, tricks or techniques from others and. with the others is always very enriching and beneficial to own development.

Exploring the basketweave design is a great challenge, and you’re absolutely right—managing the dough’s temperature is key. What are your tips that you can share with the Community?

Also, the fact that you’re aiming to develop your own unique style is truly admirable! The combination of practice and experimentation is what leads to real creativity. Do you have any particular inspiration or style you’d love to explore further in your designs?
