  • Composting cake recipes with yogurt instead of eggs

Hi, I would like to make my cakes with yogurt instead of eggs. How much yogurt should I use in place of egg? How can I convert cake recipes to be eggless?

Also, how can i modify my recipe if i want to use oil instead of butter?

Just to clarify, I am not looking for vegan recipes, but considering the cost of eggs, oil and risk of contamination I have decided to use yogurt as a substitute.

    Thanks!

    Soumya

    Hi Soumya Seemakurti.

    Welcome to the Scoolinary community!

    Thank you for your question.

To replace eggs with yogurt in your cakes, you can generally use 1/4 cup of yogurt for each egg. The yogurt will add moisture and softness, but keep in mind that the cake may be a little denser, and the replacement amount may not be the same in every recipe.

You’ll need to experiment and adjust the quantities based on the type of cake you’re making.

If you decide to use oil instead of butter, you can replace it with a little less oil than the amount of butter (for example, if the recipe calls for 100g of butter, use 80-90g of oil). This will also make the cake more moist.

As advice, you can do tests and take notes to see which quantity works best for the result you’re aiming for. Also, remember to balance the other ingredients.

I hope this information is helpful.

    Best regards.
