Hi Elchin Hajiyev
If you don’t have a proofing chamber, you can substitute it with simple homemade alternatives.
Here are some options you can try:
▪️Home Oven: Place a bowl of hot water at the bottom of the oven (turned off) and put your dough on a tray. This creates a warm and humid environment similar to a proofing chamber.
▪️Microwave: Place a cup of hot water inside the microwave, then put the dough in without turning it on. The steam will create the humidity needed for proofing.
▪️Large Container or Box: Use a large plastic container with a lid. Place a cup of hot water inside and close the lid to create a controlled environment.
These methods are homemade, but for more precise recipes, it’s essential to control both the temperature and humidity.
Here are some affordable tools you can use to complement proofing in a conventional oven, microwave, or container:
▪️Digital Thermometer with Probe: A kitchen thermometer is an inexpensive and precise tool to measure air temperature. Place the probe inside the oven, microwave, or proofing box to monitor the internal temperature. Many thermometers have a wide range and are quite affordable.
▪️Digital Hygrometer: A hygrometer measures the relative humidity in the environment. You can use it alongside the thermometer to ensure both temperature and humidity are at the right levels for proofing. Small, affordable models are available in electronics stores or online.
▪️Combined Thermometer-Hygrometer: These devices measure both temperature and humidity simultaneously. They are ideal for proofing control, allowing you to monitor and adjust both parameters as needed.
Where to Buy Them
Online platforms like Amazon or eBay usually offer affordable thermometers and hygrometers.
▪️Kitchen supply stores.
▪️Electronics stores.
If you prefer to buy a proofing chamber, you can check with specialized bakery equipment suppliers, professional kitchen equipment distributors, or even online platforms like Amazon.
I hope this information helps.
Best regards!
