Introduction to Plating

The importance of food styling to improve the dining experience and the profitability of the dish.

One of our objectives must be to present an appetizing dish, by means of a good plating, without neglecting the good taste of the elaboration.

The sense of sight plays a crucial role in the eating experience, as our brain assesses the appeal and potential nutrition of the food based on what we see. The visual presentation profoundly influences our taste perception.

A well-presented dish undoubtedly tastes better than a poorly presented one. Thus, achieving an appetizing presentation through skillful plating becomes one of our key objectives, without compromising on the quality of taste. Beyond its visual impact, an artfully plated dish has a significant effect on the overall profitability of both the dish and the restaurant.

An aesthetically pleasing plating not only delights the diners but also entices them to photograph and share the experience on social networks, amplifying its reach and impact. The artful presentation thus becomes a powerful marketing tool, contributing to the restaurant’s overall profitability.

This course covers all the basic elements in plating

The course was very interesting. I already had knowledge in the elements of design in an artwork but this showed me how the principles of design applied in the gastronomy sense.

Liked the choice of support, the dive into different textures and colors. Also the part about profitability and packaging was very insightful, that I have not thought about very much.

Very Educational

I enjoyed this course. If I were to negatively critique anything it would be the narrative translation. The voice seems a bit rigid and out of place in certain parts of recording.
